We needed something special to go on the wall above our bed so we decided to DIY something! We found a wooden slat and transformed it into a beautiful wall plaque to go above our bed!
We got a beautiful 4 poster bed for our room, but the wall was still to empty for
So I decided to look for something I can make to put up, and I found this!!!
1st. I started out with a 4ft old wood slat
Then I painted a greenish tint, just to give it a subtle color.
And I got started on a design!
2nd.  I drew out what I wanted on the wood slat!
( We decided on FOREVER) and a few branches
3rd. I began  to paint ( using a brownish color for the branches and a green for the leaves)
It is coming out really nice!
I just love the woodsy colors
4th. Then I began on the wording!!
5th.  After I finished, I added the varnish to give it more of a rustic look!
And this is the finished product! Gave it the finished look I wanted!! I hope this inspired you!

It looks like where you painted the limbs and leaves that it's in a groove. After your drew your design did you cut that part of the wood out and if so how? That is what it looks like when looking at the finished product.

Gorgeous! Question: did you make that lovely pillow on your bed? I'd LOVE to know how you did that, perhaps you can post those instructions?

I love it and I also love the pillow on the bed, that's one of my favorites song.

  • I've always wanted to do a project like this. I would like to put a small verse from the Bible on it. Something short and meaningful to everyone. Thanks for sharing!
