It’s the perfect time of year for some rich, warm colors! Heidi from Lily Field Furniture used Fresh Mustard and Antiquing Wax to modernize this sofa table and we love the results!
Happy Fall everyone! I don’t know about you but when the weather around here starts to get cold I have an urge to paint in deep, warm colors! Colors like Red, Greens and even Yellows are my favorite this time of year.
A new client of mine dropped off a sofa table that had definitely seen better times.

She wanted the sofa table to be a muted mustard yellow finish and so we went with Country Chic Fresh Mustard. Before painting I tackled some preparation work as the top of the table had some damage. I filled all of the hardware holes so that we could update with knobs and then gave the whole piece a good sanding. I also painted 1 layer of shellac to make sure that there were no bleed through issues and then painted with 2 coats of Fresh Mustard Paint.
After the paint was dry (about 24 hours) I went over the entire piece with Natural Wax and then followed right behind with Antique Wax. This gave the sofa table just the right amount of depth!

I hope this inspires you to do something fun with a color you wouldn’t normally use!
