I bought this set from a couple that where moving out of the country . They were going to throw it away . I gave them $10 for it. When I got it home and stated taking it apart I realized I wasn't the first one to redo this little diamond in the rough.
This is the table before with one leaf in place. it had faux finish on top and had been painted a brown color on the base.
Another view of the top. It was formica so I coated it with a bonding primer just for countertops
This is one of the chairs painted brown and a faux leather fabric on the cushion
Here is one of the arm chairs , don't mind my work area . I call it my Fran cave
here is the arm chair . I used Valspar black chalkpaint . I did the detail with a gold acrylic paint. The cushions covers are Waverly from Walmart.
I distressed the finish and then used antiquing wax .
Here is a view of the top closed up. After I used the primer for counter tops I used Valspar cabinet paint so it would hold up abuse. I waxed it with the antiquing wax and final coat of clear wax
I used my mouse sander with a a soft applicator pad to apply the wax and to buff it. Saved a lot of work
Here are the 2 leaves
Here is the final shot . Will be selling this one.
