I used a console table as a vanity for several years. Here's my before image. I talked about it on . I decided to replace my vanity and wanted to return the console table back to what it was intended to be. Read the post below to see how I did this task.

This is the before image. I made the curtain to hide the shelf and trash can.

I stated by clearing off the contact paper from the top of the console table and used glue remover to get rid of the residue. Then, I started painting from the bottom up. I turned it over and painted. Let dry. then repeated one more time. I used a chalk paint I had leftover from another project. I did a light sand and wiped the sand off between coats.

Then, I painted the drawer and added wallpaper inside to give it a cleaner look.

After it was completely dried, I used a dark antique wax to create the antique look I wanted on this piece to match my other piece of furniture I did before. Several rags were used for this process. I applied and then wiped off to create the affect.

This is the finished product. I reapplied the hardware. The groves on this piece made it take more time to paint and dry. Get more details about this project on my blog.
