Make a base coat first. Mix three parts of hair conditioner and one part of glue.
Gradually add 1.8 oz cornstarch stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
Mix well until smooth. If the dough consistency is not stiff enough add more cornstarch.
Knead it in your hands. Shape a ball.
Take a flower pot and mold it all over.
Try to make a thin layer from top to bottom. Smooth with your fingers holding the pot inside.

Now letā€™s make decorating clay. Take three parts of hair conditioner, one part of white glue, three parts of starch and lime yellow paint.
Add the paint into the conditioner and mix.
Pour some glue. Stir again. Gradually add the starch.
Knead and form a ball.
Squeeze out petroleum jelly to the polyethylene film. Smear around.
Press the clay over the jelly. Wrap it into the film letting the air out. Knead again.
The jelly is too fatty, so be careful to underlay a protecting cover. Put aside the clay for several minutes.
Unwrap the film. Knead the clay again. Itā€™s smooth and pliable, easily molded.
Flat the clay to mold over the pot. Press and smooth with your fingers.
Continue molding quickly and smooth junctions.
You can use the whole clay piece to wrap around the pot at once. Smooth well.
Align the top with a blunt knife cutting out the excess.
Make the surface flat by rolling over with a glass or other appropriate object.
Score crossing lines to shape diamonds using a knife handle. Thus weā€™ll imitate pineapple pattern.
Weā€™ve prepared starch clay of lime green color. Tear out a piece, roll a ball and shape a triangle. Attach to the top of the pot to make a leaf.
Add leaves of different shape and size.
Shade the lime yellow with ocher tint.
Paint the pineapple with light short strokes leaving the pattern visible.
If there is a hole inside the pot, cover it with paper.
Fill the pot with aquarium gravel and smooth the surface.
Take pencils and tuck them into the gravel.
The awesome pineapple pencil holder will keep your pencils in place. You can make this smart craft with your kids as the materials are eco-friendly, the clay is smooth and pliable, so itā€™ll be a great fun to mold it.
