Easy DIY (Upcycled) Drawers

Here's an oldie but goodie upcycle from when my kiddo was still tiny:

It’s a shame to simply break down and recycle those sturdy diaper boxes so I’ve come up with (another) useful idea to upcycle them into dandy drawers!

Our little one had a plain, boring shelf in her room that stood empty and was a magnet for dog hair - now all of her burp cloths and extra blankies are neatly put away and safe from that fido-fluff!

Find an empty shelf and measure the available space for your DIY drawers (height, depth and width)

Using your height, depth and width measurements, mark your boxes and cut them to size.

Don’t worry if you have to slice off an end simply save it as you’ll stick it back on later.

Check the fit, we ended up doing the middle box again, this time leaving the box flaps on so it was higher.

Now you can stick the ends back onto your soon-to-be drawers.

After gluing the ends on I also taped them with some packing tape for extra strength.

When you’re happy with the shape/size of your boxes it’s time to cover them with funky wrapping paper, newspaper, book pages whatever your heart desires! Use the easy method I did here:

My bulky diaper boxes to funky storage tutorial

Once the boxes are completely covered, let them dry. The hot and humid Berlin air had mine completely dry in about 2 hours.

Stick down any loose bits, add some easy rope handles and your funky new drawers are done! Slide them into the shelves and fill them up!

I am inspired! Great idea! Where did the tops come from? The rope? How did you attach the rope onto the front so it doesn’t eventually come off? You mention using glue. Is it the Gorilla Superglue XL as shown here? You said you used shipping tape but regular 1/2 “ tape is shown in the materials list. A few more details in the tutorial would help! Thanks!
