Avocado Green Bookcase Old World Update

Remember that nasty green antiquing look from many years ago ? That's what this bookcase looked like at first glance. It had great bones and was very sturdy, so my client wanted me to give it an updated, yet old world feel.
This was the inspiration picture that my client gave me. She wanted me to replicate this finish on her bookcase.
This was the before.... Kind of yucky right? Well I got to work sanding, and priming first. Then I base coated with a duck egg blue paint, but I used a very brushy technique. I kind of used a cross hatch motion and wanted to show some texture because a colorwash feel is what I wanted to achieve .
This is after a couple of coats of the blue was dry. I made a very runny wash with some white paint and I brushed it on in sections and then kind of ragged/ wiped it off in circular motions.

Here you can see that I used a dark wax over the colorwash. It gave it an aged feel that deepened the colors.
I didn't polish the hardware too much, I wanted to keep the piece vintage and old world looking.
Another detail of the finished cabinet door. Washed, dry brushed and then dark waxed. You can see the excess is left in the crevices.
