Easy Homemade Spray For Cleaning Blinds

Cleaning blinds is one of everyone's least favorite household chores. They get dirty quickly, but can also be difficult to clean!
I spent several months testing every tip, method, and DIY cleaner on the blinds in my home to see which ones worked best and quickest.
**Before we share the recipe, please head to this link to learn all the tips, how to use them plus when to use them!
The link above shares things like using different microfiber, wet vs dry cloths, and more tips depending on what type of dirty your blinds are, etc. This DIY spray was the best ratio and ingredients I tried for cleaning, it worked so well! This came from our DIY outdoor window cleaner recipe by the way.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup white distilled vinegar (5% acidity)
- 1/4 tsp blue Dawn
- Basic spray bottle
Directions:
- In your spray bottle, combine the water, vinegar, and dish soap.

How To Use This Spray?
This spray is my tip for when your blinds are super dirty, and vacuuming and microfiber aren’t doing the job. I spray the blinds or spray a microfiber cloth, then wipe down. It dissolves dust and dirt quickly, so there isn’t much rubbing needed. I have used so many different homemade sprays for blinds to see which did the best, and this one cleaned the quickest
You can spray the blinds directly, then wipe with a cloth.
Don't forget to head to our blog post to learn more tips I used and what worked best :)

I have a smoker which means blinds are more difficult to do while hanging. Also, what is the best way to use this on windows i.e, need to rinse after using?

You don’t rinse this after using on windows inside, just wipe off. If spraying outdoor windows, you can spray this, scrub, then rinse. Here’s the post: https://chemistrycachet.com/homemade-outdoor-window-cleaner/

Mine is a good question the best way I cleaned. My blinds, was to leave them in the open position down and stuck them in a bathtub of warm water was a little bit of laundry soap in it, and along with that laundry soap, you add your fabric softener, and while you wash the windows, you washing your blinds Then you stand them on the floor sideways to let them drip dry the fabric softener will help them to stay dust free longer And you don’t have to wipe it each individual piece of the blind
