Simple Symmetrical Fall Mantel
I NEVER use symmetry in decorating. It just isn't my thing. I love it when I see it, but it's not my go to style. But this Fall I decided to go for it.
I love using things I find around my house to decorate with. I especially enjoy incorporating elements of nature.
Like these beautiful pinecones I found with the kids. They are just wired together.

The gold trim comes from a $5 vintage garage sale comforter I found. The fabric is fabulous and I am using it for pillows! The large platter and aluminum pieces are also garage sale scores. $1 each. I'm a big spender.
The white finials came off a footboard I just made into a bench (you can check it out if you look at my other posts on Hometalk or the blog). I stacked store bought fake because the real ones aren't out yet :(
The feathers are from a pheasant hunting trip my husband took. The acorns are from another nature walk with the kids. Aren't they amazing? They are HUGE Burr Oak acorns.
The flowers sitting atop the pumpkins are made from old sewing patterns. I always have a few extra lying around to decorate with. (tutorial also on HT and the blog.)
You can find the best things if you just search your closets and cupboards. Then walk outside an see what is in season...and use it!
