No Fireplace? Make a Simple Stocking Holder!

I grew up Mesa Arizona and fireplaces were in short supply. My mom and dad bought a fake cardboard one which I loved, cheap though it was. (There's an actual photo of it on my blog post!) Below is an inexpensive and quick idea for hanging stockings if your sans a fireplace.
SUPPLIES

Wood dowel 7/8" x 36" (size can vary)

Paint of choice.

2 Wood balls with flat side. 1" to 2" in size

Glue for attaching balls to ends of dowel

40" of 1 to 2 wide ribbon. I used grosgrain. (Will be cut in half.)

Metal cup hooks. I used 1/2" size

Metal grommets (optional)
Glue the wood balls onto the end of your dowel and paint it whatever color you choose. We went with gold.
Measure placement of your cup hooks, depending on how many stockings you have.
Screw in your hooks.
Cut your ribbon in half and finish the end however you like. We had some metal grommets that we used but there are a variety of ways you can choose to finish and hang your holder.
The Stocking Holder can hang onto two small nails. More photos on our site below!

What a simple but great idea. I remodeled my house a little over 10 years ago and lost my fireplace. I haven't come up with a good way to hang stockings sense. Until now. Thank you
