Warning! If You Hate Painted Wood, Don´t Read On...

Many people get angry or upset when wooden antiques are painted. I perfectly understand their point. But I also understand those who have had these dark pieces for a long time at home and want to have them upcycled... and Ithis is exactly what I try to do...
This beautiful set of head/footboard and nightstands of a different style will completely transformed! Look at the outcome first:
I intended to unify all the set through a colour with great personality. An besides wanted to put the focus of attraction in the centre of the headboard.
To do this, I looked for an interesting image on the web, copied it on paper the size I needed...
and cut the shape in hardboard (yes, hardboard! so that it would have some relief after painting.
Started adding appliques of flowers of different kinds: epoxy, wood...
and used raised stencil technique for the leaves.
In this case I didn´t use plaster, but a mixture I got at the craft store that seems like granite
Painted everything green
added gems, sequins, etc to decorate flowers.
Golden dimensional paint around leaves
and golden wax to give some shade to the image.
There it is: headboard finished!
Now it was time to work on nightstands. I had to consider them carefully, because the pieces for the bed would be quite shocking in colour and shine, I couldn´t do the same with the nightstands, it would be an excess. But at the same time I needed to make them match
So I painted them completely in the same green, but sanded thouroughly until I liked the effect.
Enjoyed the project?

Ok, this is simply beautiful! You enhanced the original stain and gave it such a gorgeous look. Oh if only I could do this. 😍

Have a question about this project?
This might be a little off from your painted job which is just gorgeous by the way, BUT I have a cedar chest with a lot of knots how would you paint over the knots so they are so noticeable? Thanks ....Florida/USA
What type of gray paint did you use for the tall piece of furniture. Did you include instructions for this project
