For years, my mother in law had a childs growth chart that she would measure our kids each time we visited. When she sold the home, we took down 2 fabric growth charts to save. We found this gem at an antique store, an old straight edge , and decided to carry on the tradition!

Here's how we incorporated this sweet tradition in our own home.
We bought this home a year ago and it did not have floor trim around this stairway, so we decided to put our item here. It goes to 7 ft...so far we have a grandson 6 ft 2 in at age 15....lets hope he stays under the 7 ft!

I left the trimming out the base board job to my husband...he loves it!
We FINALLY got the doorway done and with a unique twist :) The project is all done and we love it!
Here you can see the growth stick- it looks great!
Suggested materials:
  • There was trim left in the garage, a 10ft long piece of Alder. With that and nails away we went! Hubby set up his saw in the garage....normally we set it in the driveway but the snow stopped that idea.
