Easter is a very special and meaningful holiday to me. And this year, to add to it, my daughter, her friend and my grandson will be with us and we'll be celebrating my Jen's birthday, too!
I'm not a fancy person, but I do like to make things pretty. So I made some Easter egg candles (tutorial on those next!) and these little paper baskets, that pull triple duty, for the table. They are place settings, favors and will have a few goodies tugged in them, too. There isn't candy in them now, because ummm.... I would eat it. So that comes later! But these will look so cute once they are full and on the table, with the Easter egg candles.
And they couldn't be easier! All you need is card stock, scissors and glue!
Start with a square piece of stock card. I made mine 6" but you can make them smaller or larger. As long as it is square, you're good. So cut your paper square, and save a small strip for a handle.
On the wrong side, with a ruler, draw a tic tac toe grid. These are 2" apart. Notice that two are heavily marked.
Score, fold and crease on all lines.
Cut on the heavily marked lines.
This is a little more difficult to explain, but simple to do. Fold the ends up as shown. On the middle square, put a dab of glue on each top corner. I use Arlene's Fast Grab tacky glue. A glue stick is great, if you use a heavy duty craft glue stick . Elmer's makes a great one, but sadly, I'm out of it.
Bring one outside corner to the square and hold for a moment. Do the same to the other side, forming a point with the 2 outer corners, using a dab of glue where needed. This is great glue and a dab will do it! Repeat on the other side.
Put a dab of glue on each end of your strip and glue to sides of basket.
Add crumbled tissue paper, a name tag and, eventually candy! I think these will look so cute on our dinner table. So cute and so easy.
