Breathing new life into an old piece is such a joy. I bid on this little candle table and was so happy that it was mine.
This little table was in need of a little TLC.
- Here I just used a little mineral spirits to clean it up.
- Once it dried I gave it a sanding with a fine grit sandpaper.
- I wiped it down with a damp cloth and let dry.
I chose a color that would compliment our soft grey living room.
- I used Blue Stone House Tuscan Teal. This is a chalk paint and does not have a shine.
- This little table took 3 coats. I was happy with 2 however I felt it just needed a 3 to complete the uniformity.
- I slightly distressed this table. I just used a 220 grit paper to slightly distress this piece. Not A lot, I wanted it to still look like it belongs in 2017/2018 but still have a bit of patina.
- After distressing, I wiped down with a damp cloth to rid the dust.
- I took some gold paint and by hand brushed it onto different parts of the table to highlight some of the accents on it. Ie legs, pattern in the front and on top of the table.
- After applying the gold paint trim I let dry.
- I then applied Fusion Tough Coat to the whole table. Since this table is in a high traffics spot, I want people to be able to put their glasses and coffee mugs on it and not make rings into the paint or onto the table.
