Strainer Paint On Canvas

I'm sure everyone has seen the videos of paint projects with strainers. Here is an easy one you can try on canvas. I did 2 different complementary colored ones- one in purples, one in blues. You will need a strainer that will fit on the size of your chosen canvas, a drop cloth- this does get messy, gloves, lots of acrylic paint, Liquitex Flow Aid, clear coat spray for once it's all dry.
Put down a drop cloth for your work area, place your canvas on the work surface.
You will need your Liquitex Flow Aid. Add some to each one of your colors, before you add it into your pour bucket.
Here is my selection of colors I used for the purple canvas. I also used a little black & white for some contrast. This is totally up to you, as an artist. I used one with metallic, one with glitter.
Make sure that you have a cup you use will pour nicely into your strainer- otherwise, you'll have a mess on your hands- literally!
Layer your paints into the pour cup- don't mix them at all. you want them to flow all out in kind of a big mess- trust me- there is a method to this madness. Once you see how it works- you'll get it why. The flow aid adds to how it all works.
Place your strainer onto the center of your canvas.
Pour into your strainer, scrap well & let it flow. Make sure you get all the paint out of the strainer, let it drip, shake it, slosh it- this is where the mess comes in.
At this point you can play with your canvas- use a hot air gun, blow dryer or even a torch to move the paint around. Shake it, tilt it slide it around or leave it as is. It's up to each artist.
This is my finished canvas- all clear coated & drying.
