During my DIY bathroom remodel, I tore down the two side mirrors around the vanity that were creating a Hall of Mirrors effect.

I planned to extend the tile backsplash and add a towel ring to the straight wall, but the angled wall needed a little something extra.

I decided to install recessed shelves between the studs to store pretty toiletries and candles. It was easier to do than I thought!

These shelves made a huge difference in our new bathroom! Don't forget to check out the full tutorial on my blog here: https://www.thehandymansdaughter.com/recessed-bathroom-shelves/

This would be a great idea for kitchens too. My aunt's hoyse had a 3'x3' section of wall in her kitchen with such storage for 90% of her canned goods. Shelf heights were set depending on can sizes. It also had a door that matched the walls.

What a great project. I love the inset shelving unit. I wish we could have seen the whole new bathroom.
