Repurposed Mailbox Planter
I bought this mailbox from a friend of mine a couple of years ago and have used it all over my house... I've used it in my kitchen to hold utensils, in the bathroom to hold magazines and for Santa mail during the holidays. I love all the ways I've been able to use this mailbox around my house, but finally turned it into what I intended it for - this mailbox planter!
I started by cleaning my mailbox. I wanted to make sure there wasn't any dirt or debris on the mailbox that would prevent the spray paint from going on evenly.
Spray paint the mailbox.
Be sure to spray the bottom if you plan on hanging it on the wall.
I also spray painted inside the lid because it would be raised with the plants/flowers inside. Add as many layers as you need until you are satisfied with the color and let dry completely in between coats and when finished.
Since my mailbox is on the tall side, I needed a filler because I didn't want to fill the entire thing with soil. You can use plastic bottles or egg cartons to fill the mailbox.
Then I layered a paper towel to stop the soil from falling to the bottom.
Add your plants and you are ready to go!
The mailbox already comes with holes for hanging so that works out perfect!
You can cover with a clear sealer or leave as is.

Awesome idea. What kind of flowers did you use? They are so pretty and look great in the upcycled mailbox.
Any ideas how to repurpose a old regular curbside mailbox.
