DIY Wire Cactus Light (or Any Shape You Want!)
My daughter has apparently been missing the desert lately because she LOVES anything and everything cactus. She spotted a cactus light online the other week that she really wanted, but it seemed to be sold out everywhere.

What you will need:
14 gauge galvanized wire
24 gauge jewelry wire
wire cutter
battery operated dew drop LED lights
a pot
styrofoam
rocks
Start by taking out your 14 gauge wire and shaping it into a cactus (or any other shape you want). If you have trouble eye balling your shape, print one a shape and use it to guide your wire around the outline.
Then put some of your styrofoam into your pot, leaving room for your battery pack to sit close to the top of your pot. Leave about 1.5" of the top of your pot open. Your battery pack may look different than mine, so check yours out and make sure it is positioned so that the on/off button is on the top and easily accessed. You can also see in the picture that I have the string of lights out of the pot as well.
Now poke your cactus into your styrofoam and make it nice and sturdy. Then take your jewelry wire and cut little pieces, about 1" long. These pieces will make the prickers for the cactus and will also hold the lights in place. Then start attaching your lights to the cactus. You can start with either end of the string of lights and tuck the excess under the decorative rocks.
Once you have all the lights attached, add some big rocks to cover up the styrofoam and battery pack to finish off the look of the potted cactus light. Keep in mind where your on/off button is and cover it with a larger rock. Then to turn it on and off you can pick up a rock to find the button and turn your light on.
My daughter loves her little cactus, but you can really do this same project with many different shapes or outlines.
