Learn how to make your own DIY natural cleaning spray! This easy, inexpensive recipe uses high-proof vodka infused with rose petals. It also contains antibacterial essential oils to naturally disinfect your home — no toxic chemicals necessary.

- Glass spray bottle
- Essential oils
- Mason jar with lid
- Funnel
- Fine sieve or strainer
For exact measurements, please see our full article here.
To begin, infuse your vodka with rose petals by placing the vodka and the rose petals in a covered mason jar. Let infuse overnight or for 48 hours. Then strain out the rose petals using a fine sieve.
Note: We have always used light coloured roses when making this all-purpose cleaning spray. However, a cleaner made from red roses might work on some surfaces such as mirrors.
After you remove the rose petals from your mason jar, add your essential oils.
Shake the jar vigorously to combine the essential oils with the vodka.
There are a variety of essential oil combinations that work well for cleaning. But for antibacterial capabilities, be sure to include one or more essential oils from the list of antibacterial oils found here.
Next, use a funnel to transfer your mixture to a glass spray bottle.
Dark glass bottles are preferable to protect the essential oils from UV light. However, you can still use a clear bottle as long as you keep the mixture in a dark cupboard.
We often repurpose glass bottles from other products as long as a standard spray nozzle fits the bottle.
You can use your DIY natural cleaning spray on a variety of surfaces in your kitchen and bathroom.
We have used this cleaning spray on mirrors, granite countertops, stovetops, sinks, and more. It cleans incredibly well, doesn’t leave streaks, and makes our countertops shinier than any store-bought cleaner we’ve tried.
Remember to shake your rose petal-infused spray very well before each use.
