Elegant Chair Makeover

Love those inexpensive plastic chairs, but not the vibrant colors? Why not give them a makeover with spray paint and transform them into elegant patio pieces in just a few hours.

Grab Your Chairs

Plastic Adirondack chairs are available at most hardware and box stores for less than $20 each. If you're lucky you can find them at the curb for free.

You may even have a pair of worn or faded ones in your yard, just waiting for an update.

Wash

The chairs need to be cleaned before you can paint them. If they are dirty, you can use Dawn liquid and water to scrub them down.

If the chairs are new, you can use a razor (carefully!) to remove the sticker.

Once dry you can paint.

Paint

Make sure you choose a very strong epoxy type spray paint that is made to adhere to plastic. Usually those are the strongest and will stay fresh looking for a long, long time.

Give all surfaces of the chair several coats until the original color is completely covered. Remember to paint the bottom and the inside slats as well.

Sit And Enjoy The View

Once the chairs are dry you can pop them into a shady place, so they don't get too hot, add a pillow or two and relax.
