Up-cycled Head/foot Boards

Someone gave us a head/foot board that could no longer be used as a bed. The holes where it all connected had worn out and it was no longer sturdy enough to hold a bed frame.
So we reinforced it with 4X4s and turned it into a very cute little bench. We used reclaimed wood from pallets to make the bench portion.
Then I sanded the whole thing, dry painted it a gorgeous light blue and stained the wood. I just love the way it turned out. It was our first one and I think we pulled it off!

I'm currently working on a bed/bench and like the color you chose. After painting it blue, what did you apply? It looks like a glaze. Can you help me? Thanks so much! Diane

I love the way it turned out also.. It looks great! Fantastic job. I'm in the midst of figuring out what to do with my bed parts. This helps to see such a nice one, love the color.

It really is simple to do because all you are cutting is the pieces for the bench! What a fabulous head/foot board you have. That would make an adorable bench! It looks as though it would have arm rests for yours, oh how neat!!! Good luck!
