We came across a huge curbside score, first we found a buffet in tough shape next to the trash bin. The following day we went back to find matching chairs in the bin! We restored the buffet and are working on the chairs, what to do with a broken chair?-Transform it into a memo board.
One chair was too badly damaged, the back board was removed and replaced with 1/4 wood, on the top half chalk board paint was used and the bottom now has glued wine corks and hooks. We also took the decorative spindles from the inside and reattached them to the outside of frame. A hole drilled in the side at an angle holds the chalk and a coat of Duck Egg and some distressing to finish.
yes, these were in the trash!
and so was this. This piece was missing drawers and doors and had bad rippled veneer on the top, but it was solid and sturdy. We used a heat gun and putty knife to remove the remaining veneer. Placed in 1/4 wood to make the drawer insert areas even. Then painted the entire piece, using Dutch boy eggshell and Minwax stain on the top.
medium distressing brought out the details in the wood
finished! even with missing parts she is a beauty!! see more transformations on www.asouthernbellewithnorthernroots.com or follow Junkflirt on Facebook or Instagram
