Giving an Outdated Ceiling Fan a Little Face Lift!

After spending months trying to find a new ceiling fan for our family room, I finally just threw up my hands and said, "I have nothing to lose by spray painting it". If it worked, I would save some money and if it didn't I wouldn't have lost out on anything as I wanted to change it out anyway! Win/win in my books!!
There wasn't anything wrong with this fan....it worked great, I am just tired of all that brass!
I will admit that I was a little nervous about the spray paint getting into the mechanics through the oval mesh. I tried adding a little piece of tape to each, but after the third one I realized that I would do more harm than good as the mesh could rip.
I protected everything else with grocery bags tucked into each crevice.....
I couldn't be happier with the results. Saved a ton of money, as the can of oil rubbed bronze spray paint only cost me $6. Want to see more photos and a little more in depth on the ins and outs of painting light fixtures come on over to the blog.

Where do you get the paint and it says bronze but looks black
How hard was it to get off the ceiling? I like this idea, but am not sure how to get the fan to where I can paint it....
Super...work! What brand of paint did you use. I am so afraid of something going on fire. Also, how long until you used it again? Thank u ...for your direction Sue
