Bowling Alley Into Bathroom Vanity? No Way!
Our house came with bathroom vanities that we really disliked when we bought it last summer. I decided to replace them all on a shoestring budget. For this bathroom, it all began when I found this hairpin legged stand on Craigslist for $20.
I sold the original vanity on Craigslist so this bathroom went with out a sink for several months while I collected everything. And I'll admit, I really didn't have a plan on this one, so it was a search and seizure for pieces that would work together. Next I found the perfect sink on eBay for $50.
Through Craigslist, I found this super cool piece of granite for free. It was the right size but getting sink and faucet holes cut would have run $100. My husband didn't like the granite enough to spend that so the search continued.

Then I came across an ad on Craigslist for maple bowling alley pieces. The piece itself was reasonable but we asked the guy to cut a sink hole for us which ended up putting us up at about $100. We weren't excited by the price, but we really liked the bowling alley idea. I then cut a hole for the faucet, lightly stained and sealed the wood.
The faucet I found on eBay for around $30 or so. The rest of the plumbing parts ran about $33 which was all really easy to assemble and install.
In the end, I spent about $50 more than what I sold the original vanity for so I did pretty well.
Now we have a fun custom vanity that comes with great stories of how we came across all the parts! All it takes is a little time, patience, and DIY magic! Be sure to click through to the full details on the blog link below!
