Andrea from Crossroad Creations created a stunning two-toned finish on this dresser by adding a bit of Midnight Sky and Natural Wax!
I picked up this dresser at an auction last month because it was in good condition and I liked the curved drawer front. The finish was lackluster, so it was a good candidate for a makeover. Country Chic Paint has a wonderful shade of navy blue called Midnight Sky that I really wanted to pair with stained wood. This is what the end result looks like:
I had to sand down the top of the dresser and the curved drawer to bare wood so that I could stain the wood darker than the original golden stain. I also stained the carved keyholes on the lower drawers so that I could leave them unpainted.
The main body of the dresser required less sanding, and after two coats of Midnight Sky it was covered beautifully. I used natural wax to deepen the paint colour and buffed it gently for a soft sheen.
I love using these small dressers in different areas of the home for extra storage. I cannot wait to see where this one ends up!

Beautiful! I love the paint and wood combo. Great idea leaving the top wavy drawer as a focal point!

Do you know what the color of stain you used for the wood? I love that color but can’t seem to match it. Did you mix stains together? Thanks!
