Salvaged and repurposed chest.
Houndstooth chest finished project.
My friend gave me the chest. I wanted to put material on the drawer fronts and it work out well.
Remove hardware and give them a vinegar bath.
Clean with Brasso and polish.
Remove the veneer with a sharp blade.
Hot iron over damp cloth for stubborn veneer
Painted the top and rails black.
Painted outer frame contrasting color.
Cut fabric to match dimensions of drawer fronts and soak in modge podge.
Adhere damp fabric to drawer fronts.
Puncture fabric with screwdriver to open fabric covering hardware hole. Apply hardware.
Choose your legs for desired height
Picked up some 4 inch legs at local big box store. Primed and painted.
How to adhere the legs? Found these at big box store.
Drilled hole in bottom of piece.
Inserted the screws and then put the legs into the screws which were flush with the bottom of the chest.
Project completed.
