I’ve never in my life built a piece of furniture. I had no clue what I was doing, but I knew what I was wanting. I had a ton of old shutters and pallets as well as many pieces that went to other furniture that was broken. So I laid it all out 3 shutters few pieces of pallet a base and wood top. Ok I think I can do this. Here I go.
here I took two shutters the same height and glued them to two pieces of pallet wood.
this piece is the base, I have no idea where I even got this piece.
Once the shutters and pallet wood was dry I placed 2” screws through them to keep it held together.
thats my top from an old dresser im Using I so glad I saved it.
i added the frame to the base using 3” wood screws and then added the top and piece of pallet wood to the front On the top and bottom. I couldn’t belive it actually worked. I did it!!!
Here it is finally all together painted crisp white
I sanded and stained the top with red mahogny min wax stain. once dried I lightly brushed white chalk paint over that and then added java stain to the entire piece. Kinda wished I had just left it white.
I then added the diy barn door. I Got the hard ware off of amazon which is only the wheels for $4 bought the flat bar at lowes for $10 I also used a hex screw 2 washers and locking it to hold the wheels on to the flat bar. I measured where I wanted the flat bar to sit with the wheels attached and then marked my flat bar. I drilled holes on each mark for the additional flat bar to hold my wheels. I drilled the flat bar into the piece of pallet wood on the front. Then screwed on the wheels. Fit perfect. I took my other shutter door and measured where the wheels should go and attached them.
It’s all finished and ready for a new home. I really wanted to keep this piece.
Oh I almost forgot. For The shelves I cut furring strips for my shelves to sit on. I used fence pickets from lowes. They are cheap maybe $2.50 a board. I used red mahogany stain by min wax
this is what I used to get the shutter doors to attach and stay with my top and bottom attached.

I may have missed this, but is there only shutter door on the front? So, the items placed inside will be visible? I have been envisioning something similar to place in my master bathroom. I may have to make shutter doors rather than the barn doors. I do love what you did and I am sure that whoever took this lovely home will appreciate it.
