Love candles! At Christmas time, candlelight is especially nice, so I set out to make a Christmas candle centerpiece using items from the dollar store.

You will need:

-two long faux pine boughs

-six poinsettia flower heads

-six small-medium pine cones

-a long, low ceramic plate

-a glass chimney-shaped vase

-some dry floral foam

-the appropriate size candle

-a hot glue gun

First, cut your floral foam to fit the plate; in this case about one inch thick by four inches wide. Then dig out a crevice in the center of the foam to hold the vase. It doesn't have to look pretty-it's only to give the candle holder some stability and the foam will be completely covered by the end of the project.

Use the cutting pliers to shorten the length of the pine bough stems and poke them into the ends of the floral foam so that starting from the foam they hang about 6-inches over the ends of the plate.

Use the glue gun to glue three poinsettia flower heads to each side of the foam around the candle and three pine cones to each of the pine boughs. The finished centerpiece looks the same from either side.

I was very pleased with the way this turned out. For more detailed instructions, and two more candle ideas, please visit my website:
