Don't throw away that heart-shaped chocolate box from Valentine's Day! Use it to make this beautiful wall hanging.

How to Make a Shamrock Wall Hanging:

First, you'll want to cover the flat side of a heart-shaped candy box. I'm using just the back cover of the heart box, white cardstock, and a scrap of pretty green and white fabric.

Trace the shape of your heart box with a pencil onto white cardstock and fabric of your choice. Then cut them out.

If you don't have white cardstock you could give the back of your box a coat of white paint. This is just to cover the words so nothing shows through the fabric layer!

Side Note: I used the front side of this candy box to make a beautiful blush rose wall hanging. You can take a peek at that on my blog, Craftidly.com.

At this point, you'll want to add a string or a way to hang your decorative shamrock wall hanging. I used twine and a few wood beads.

Next, cover the flat side of your heart-shaped box.

I used tacky glue to glue the white card stock to the back of the heart-shaped box first.

Then I used  Mod Podge for fabric to glue the fabric layer over that. I also added a coat over the fabric to seal it.

Next work on the shamrock. I used loose floral moss from Dollar Tree but you can also buy floral moss in  sheets here.

Cut the shamrock shape out of lightweight cardboard. Visit my website to download a PDF of the shamrock!

Apply a generous coat of tacky glue and press loose floral moss into the glue. This is a bit messy but worked fine!

Add decorations to finish. I used a hot glue gun to glue on a raffia bow and pom-pom garland along the edges.
