Flowerpot Centerpiece
Drawing inspiration from from my 5yr olds Mothers Day gift, I went back to my elementary school roots and made my mom a Mother's Day gift this year. It's true what they say, homemade gifts really are the best!
I had this wooden bottle carrier kicking around the house for awhile with no real purpose. Pretty sure I bought just because I liked the look and color!
I cut the handle off with the table saw and sanded down the edge to dull it a bit.
I flipped the box and traced 3 circles, I made sure they were spaced evenly and that they were centered in the dividers that you see in the picture above. Using a jigsaw I cut 'em out.....not the prettiest circles, but they work! I sanded down the circle edges so they weren't so jagged.
I painted 2 coats of chalk paint in my favorite color, Provence. once dried I used some stain, also named Provence, and went overtop. I let it sit for a bit and then wiped it off. Using a rough block sander I sanded down the edges and random places on the surface until I was satisfied with the overall look. I sealed it with Annie Sloane clear soft wax and let it dry. I really love how sanding it down brought some yellow back through!
Using 3 terracotta pots that I had on hand, I spray painted the edges gold and planted some succulents and a flower in them. They fit perfectly down in the circles.
There it is! A bright and cheery centerpiece that can be used both indoors and outdoors!

Love the tray of plants to show mom how much you love her. A great way of starting an herb garden that the whole family will enjoy.
