How to Decoupauge Wood Ornaments With Festive Napkins

Tools and materials:

• Wood ornaments
• White paint
• Paintbrushes
• Crushed glass
• Glue
• 2-Ply napkins
• Sanding brush
• Distressing ink pad
• Glitter
• Ribbon

1. Paint the ornaments white

I bought my wood ornaments at Hobby Lobby and they were a pack of six for 2.99 with another 60% off. I painted each ornament white with craft paint.

2. Add crushed glass to the tops

For the ornament tops, I used crushed glass from Amazon. I wanted to add dimension so I added the glass to the tops of the ornaments to appear like they are vintage.

I applied glue onto each ornament top and then put some of the glass glitter onto them. I used regular school glue but you can use Modge Podge if you prefer.

3. Decoupage the designs onto the ornaments

There are so many beautiful napkins available. I picked up some at the dollar store and Marshall's. Make sure you pick up 2-ply napkins to use because you are going to peel a layer off.

I applied a layer of glue and spread it around with a small paintbrush. Then I cut the section of napkin I wanted and put it onto the ornament and applied another layer of glue to the top.

I brushed all of the bubbles out.

Then use a sanding sponge around the edge it will remove all the excess paper from the ornament.

4. Distress

When they dried I used my distressing ink pad around the edges of each ornament to give them dimension.

5. Add glitter and ribbon

I added glitter onto the tops of each ornament after they dried. Then I exchanged the ribbon that was on the ornament with some homespun ribbon I had.

These decoupage wooden ornaments turned out so pretty. I am going to use them as favors at my cookie exchange.
