Create some 'frosty friends' for a fun and easy winter craft project, 'snow' much fun, when you’re stuck indoors!
I had a little inspiration from a set of winter snowman plates for this fun craft, as I was looking to create a centerpiece for my table. I started with some FloraCraft 3.8-inch foam balls and some leftover yarn from my Finger Knitting Winter Wreath.
Attach the yarn to the foam with pins and winding the yarn around the ball to cover the foam. Continue winding until your ball is covered to your satisfaction, then cut your yarn and pin in place.
I found a snowman hat floral pick on clearance at Hobby Lobby in December, not sure how I would use it but the price was too good to pass up at 75% off.

To make the eyes and mouth, you can use any black buttons with a shank. I used an assorted animal eye and nose kit purchased for my Puppy Bouquet that I already had.
I cut the top hat pick apart using pliers and used the stem of the pick to anchor it in foam of the yarn ball.
To make the snowman nose, I started with a two-inch double length of yarn, wrapping it with an orange chenille stem. It took three orange stems to cover the yarn and create a carrot-shape nose.

Tip: When shopping at Hobby Lobby or Michaels, download their mobile app to your smart phone so you can access their weekly coupon when you shop.
To attach the eyes and mouth, I used some floral wire and toothpicks, wrapping the wire around the shank of the button and breaking the toothpick in half and then inserting it into the yarn ball to create the eyes and mouth. You could glue the buttons in place if you prefer. I used the wire and toothpick so I could rearrange the placement of the features and reuse the buttons if I wanted to later.
To attach the nose, I used a pin on both sides, inserting it in the foam. The pearl head of the pin is camouflaged and hidden by the yarn.
Here are my 'Frosty Friends', served up on a cake plate as a centerpiece. I used an inverted bowl as a pedestal to elevate one, sprinkled some faux snow and added a length of buffalo check ribbon as a scarf.
I added a Snowman to my Finger Knit Wreath, which is another easy and fun winter project!
