For my Light it Up! project, I decided to try something new (to me). I've never had a Christmas Wreath. I found a wreath on sale at Michael's on Black Friday for $3.00. Bam! Perfect!
Garage sale finds $1
I picked up some old Christmas decorations at a garage sale in October. Then, on Black Friday, I was at Michael's, and they had a doorbuster on Christmas wreaths for $3.00. The hunt was on!
Added garland to wreath.
After fluffing out and forming the wreath, I took the gold garland and wound it around the wreath twice.
Added a left over bow.
I added a bow that I had saved from an old arrangement. It still needed more...
Added candy cane lights.
My friend gave me some candy cane battery operated lights from an after Christmas sale purchase last year. I added those next. But it still needed something.
Dollar store wind chime.
I had purchased some great Christmas themed outdoor hangers (wind Chimes) from the Dollar Store on sale for 1/2 price. The red truck with Christmas tree in back was just the ticket. I took the hanger apart, hanging the truck from the top of the wreath with its hook, then used twist wires to fasten the top of the short links of chain to the bottom of the wreath below the bow.
I turned it on and hung it up. The best thing about this light set is that it has several settings, blinking, steady, flashing, etc., and it's on a timer, so I don't have to worry about turning it on and off. I tucked the battery pack inside the wreath behind the bow.
All lit up and ready to go!
I think this turned out great for my first attempt at decorating a wreath! I added the nostalgic touches, like the old truck with the tree in the back, just like we got our trees when we were kids with our grandfather. This is the first year that my Dad won't be with us for Christmas, but the bow is from one of the plant arrangements from his funeral, so he is represented, too.
Lit up at night.
