I was feeling guilty leaving Avocado out of the festivities this year... So when I found a cardboard box I knew just what I could do!

Step 1: Build

Begin by building the box if you don't have one lying around already. After that, cut the flaps on the the bottom of the box. Next, cut one corner of the box and turn it inside out taping it in place. This will hide any graphics on the outside, i wanted mine to have a gingerbread feel but you could also use paint it if desired.

Step 2: Create Top

After that, pick the font and back of the house & cut out two triangles out of the flaps. Next, measure, cut, and bend the middle of another piece of cardboard for the roof.

Tape the other two flaps to the triangles to reinforce it. Then, hot glue the roof in place.

Step 3: Make windows & door

After that, measure and cut where you want your windows and doors to be and cut them out with an exacto knife.

Step 4: Decorate

I wanted to make a colorful gumdrop roof so I cut half ovals out of multicolored construction paper. I then hot glued them to the roof. Add cotton balls to fill in gaps, and add a marshemello-y feel.

Next, I created a sign out of cardboard and construction paper with my cat's name on it. After that, I created candycanes out of construction paper and tape. I also created mini gumdrops for the side of the house.

Hot glue it all together, and that's it!

For under $20 or less your animals can have their very own gingerbread house! You could also get a larger box and make this for kids!

Avocado loves his new house and instantly climbed right in!

I hope this inspires you to include your pets this season!
