If you like farmhouse decor this is a perfect little quick and easy project for Christmas. I made several to sell at a Christmas show.

(Think outside the box for a Valentine’s Day decor option)

These are some goodies that I picked up at a town wide yard sale. I love thrifty flips and re-purposing items. The muffin tins were only $.75 each.

Inexpensive supplies

I also purchased several muffin tins at Dollar Tree. The paper gingerbread man was from Hobby lobby. I used white, black , gold and red spray paint. After I sprayed both sides with either black, gold or red I went back and splattered a little bit of white paint for an interesting look. I used regular paint for the gingerbread boy. I made him brown and highlighted the edges with black paint. Two little black dots for eyes and he was done.

Another idea.

Later I thought about baking cinnamon scented gingerbread ornaments. A very rustic look with a yummy scent. You can find the recipe on Pinterest or you can Google it. (Hearts for Valentine’s Day)

Gingerbread boy ornaments

The house smelled so good for quite some time! I made baby gingerbread boys too. If you want a few for ornaments be sure to poke a hole in the top of the head before baking.

Time to assemble everything

I “tore” fabric long enough to tie on the gingerbread boy around his waist. As I tied the bow I added a combination of Christmasy bling. Plus a cinnamon stick. I used twine to tie everything together which added to the rustic look. To finish it off I added a bow to the top. So pretty!

Close up.

You can buy the Christmas bling at any craft store. I keep a bunch in my stock and just tear the larger pieces apart as I need it.

Each one looked different

This is a close up of the baked gingerbread ornament one. If you look closely you can see that I also use a little bit of red and white butcher string to tie things up. Each one was an individual creation. So much fun.

Fabric

Picking out just the right fabric is key. Don’t you just love how the red paisley looks on the black muffin tin! Now that I live at the beach, next year I plan to make them using a blue and white color scheme. Maybe I’ll paint the muffin tin a sandy color.

(Edit: think Valentine’s Day with heart shaped gingerbread cutouts and fabric with mini hearts. What’s not to LOVE)

Be sure to try this easy project. They make nice gifts too. If you have questions just let me know.

Happy Holidays my crafty friends!!
