I had been searching for something inexpensive to fill up some o my larger space on my walls in the living room. I came across this idea and thought " why not?" I did complete two of these. A large one and a small one to sorta match.
I went to Goodwill and got some pictures that had frames with a bit of charm.
I painted them black then crackled finish with a top coat of white
Here is the crackle finish beginning to works it magic.
I then set each one up in the area I wanted them. Marked and pre-drilled the holes before attaching them with lone nails. I used a smaller drill bit then the size of the actual nail. This helps to keep it from splitting the frames when you nail them together. I guess i you have thin long screws you could use those. I did place a little glue behind each frame where i nailed them for extra support.
I was going to go with this but changed my mind and put some color into the background by painting the backboard from the actual pictures with a red color already in use in my living room.
Here it is with the red background.
Here is the smaller one i created from frames laying around the house. $6 dollars for this one.
