Make an Easel Out of Scrap Wood Pallets. Great Art Easel for Kids!!

My Girls love painting, and I needed something to hold up my project whiteboard. The scrap woodpile was getting low, so I tore apart a wooden pallet to make this super easy easel, "easel-ly"

Wooden Easel made from Pallet Wood

Step one is to cut 3 "legs" from the pallet planks. These will form the tripod stand for our easel. I used 72" for the total length. None of the planks I salvaged were 72" so I used scrap wood to join smaller pieces together.

Next, I laid out the boards to get an idea of where the ledge should go and where to cut the top so the legs sit flush.

I added an old door hinge for the 3rd leg, so I can fold the easel up when it is not in use.

After attaching the ledge, and 3rd leg here is the end result. note I did add a piece of chain between the front and back legs to stop it from falling flat. Check the blog post for all the little details.
