A friend wanted me to make a "Marriage Box" for her niece's wedding. She gave me a cigar box and said "Do what you do"...so I did!
This is the end result, just love it!
It started as a cigar box like this, only a wood one, not black. I took all the labels off, and then sanded down the top, as it had the cigar named engraved on it. Once sanded, I put some clear wax sealer on top and cut vinyl lettering for the words "Marriage Box" , and put it on top.
I had some Old Yellowed paper I found in a dresser, so typed the words on it, cut it and placed it on cardboard, and placed inside the top.
Here is a closer look at "marriage box" words.
I bought some wood chips online, then with a sharpie wrote words about marriage on them, and painted two BONUS HEARTS just for fun.
Then placed them inside and it's such a thoughtful gift for giving! Love this idea.
Suggested materials:

  • Wood Chips   (Online)
  • Vinyl Lettering   (cut from my silhouette cameo)

The words in the message. Excellent simple idea and after reading the message it seems that the chips are a visual symbol of what really goes into a marriage. Being married for 27 years one appreciates what it takes and I would like to make its for the 3 weddings we are going to this year....who came up with the words? May I use the body of the content with some personal adjustments of my own?

This is a wonderful gift! It puts the importance on the marriage! So many think the wedding "party" is IT, and don't think about the future. I will definitely be making for my daughter. Though she has seen a happy marriage of 27 years in her Dad and I, this will serve as a daily reminder of what we put into it.
