We wanted to put some kind of magnetic board near our computer for notes and this is what we came up with.
We found the tinplate and frame at the Seria dollar store over here in Japan. With the right paint job, this frame would look perfect under our knickknack shelf.
We bought these magnets and picture frame holders from The Daiso. We love the dollar store!
My wife Mariko used Annie Sloan graphite chalk paint on this.
She did some light distressing and then waxed it with Annie Sloan clear wax.
That's me putting the hangers on the back. I pretty much only bought the tinplate and frame and did this. icon
Check out the new magnetic board under the knickknack shelf. We rotate our knickknacks to match the season.
There you have it! Only $4 with the magnets and holders on the back and it looks awesome!

very nice Bryan! Where in Japan do you live? We spent 5 years there. Loved every minute of it! We were in Yokota. Spent a lot of time traveling around by car which you know is hard to do there. I loved everything I saw...it was fascinating! Loved the geisha dances, the countryside...everyone was extremely friendly...just an overall nice place to be.

I was actually stationed at Yokota! I was a fire fighter in the Air Force years ago. We moved back to Japan after I finished my time in the Air Force and we live next to Narita now. You're probably familiar with the airport there.

LOL if I had my way...we would have stayed in the military for at least 20...he only did 12 years...and done a second tour there. Mt. Fuji was breathtaking and the culture difference was unbeatable. I loved downtown Tokyo and went to several parades while there. That was true art in itself. Did you ever go to Hiroshima? What history!
