Do you have some old croquet mallets lurking about? My mother picked me up a set from a yard sale a few years ago and we only played once. It was time for them to go or become something more enjoyable!

I love Alice in Wonderland and flamingo mallets make the perfect lawn decorations!

Gather your materials

Materials: Croquet mallets, spraypaint, and flamingos. Oh, don't forget cleaning supplies- rags and rubbing alcohol worked fine for us.

Wipe down

Wipe off any dirt or dust and give the croquet mallets a good wipe down with rubbing alcohol. It dries pretty quickly.

Spraypaint

Rustoleum Poppy Pink is the best color to match our flamingos.

Before you begin think about how you will allow the spray paint to dry without smudging it. We sprayed one end at a time. We let it dry by putting a brick on the unpainted end while the painted end hung over the edge of a chair then switched ends when dry.

Drill a hole 3/4"

Remove legs from flamingos. Drill a hole into the flamingos with a forstner bit about the size of your croquet mallets and slide flamingos onto the mallets. Ours were snug so we didn't need glue. We then nestled them into the dirt amongst our gnomes with the cheshire cat watching from the trees above lol. Wonderland at it's best.

This was an inexpensive project since we had the croquet mallets and found inexpensive flamingos at the Dollar store. But if you check grandmas garage, yard sales, dollar store, ebay, etc I'd think you could make a pair of these cheap too. Maybe $5 or $6 max I'd think.

I know someone will ask about the other things in my picture so I'll let you know the 3 peeping gnomes came from Amazon. Everyone loves them lol. I also just ordered a hedgehog statue (not shown) which goes along with the Wonderland theme (in the story they use him as a ball when playing croquet). And the Cheshire cat I couldn't find one to buy so I painted him onto a piece of wood.
