Dixie Belle Paint in Hurricane Gray Makeover - By: Breath of Life Design
Dixie Belle is the Number 1 leading Chalk Type Paint in the USA!
I started by cleaning my surface with white lightning. I then sanded the top. I applied the espresso gel stain and it worked perfectly. A nice, dark, rich color.
I then painted the remaining areas with Gravel Road. The 8 oz container was enough for two coats on the entire table and I still some left over.
I sealed the top in gator hide to make it water-proof and sealed the rest in the satin clear coat.
Things that I learned...
The satin top coat applies better with a damp brush. The first coat I did with a slightly damp brush, and it applied a little thicker than I would have liked. So the second coat I made the brush more damp and the results were a lot better.
The gator hide dries very quickly so don't work it too much. If you have a few spots that didn't get covered, just wait until the next coat.
This chalk paint has some serious coverage! Every time I use Dixie Belle Chalk Paint I am amazed at how little I need. Also, if you are looking for a beautiful gray, then I HIGHLY recommend this color! It is so rich and would truly look good on any piece. By: Breath of Life Design
