How do I redo this recliner?
I have a recliner that was given to use and it’s peeling sooooo bad. Hoping someone has experienced it before and can get me going in the right direction other than the dump! Thanks so much!!!!

If you want to go an easy route, I would just get a recliner cover for it. Especially since it is in pretty bad shape! Here are some on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=recliner+cover&ref=nb_sb_noss_2
Honestly I would slip cover the whole thing. They make some really nice ones nowdays
I would take it to a good shop for recovering - assuming the furniture is worth saving.
I read somewhere that people have painted their faux leather chair for the reason that you have....it peeled. As I remember, they sanded off all the old loose pieces of faux leather and then painted it with fabric paint. Not sure the outcome but maybe you could google "painting faux leather chair". I am thinking like you said, by slip covering the chair, little pieces of the faux letter would keep falling off the bottom onto the floor.
I'd look into a slipcover!
Your chair immediately made me think of this youtube video of someone using leather repair to fix their own leather recliner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqumUsZBw6Y
The easiest answer would be to get a slip cover for the chair. Amazon has MANY to choose from and the prices are good too.

Hello could a slipcover be an option? Thats what my son did with his peeling pleather loveseat.
I would definitely try to get a cover. It has too many pieces to take apart and unless you have recovered furniture before it is going to be a nightmare.
Hello Elizabeth,
You may be able to get a consolidation liquid to stop it continually shedding, ask at the craft shop or an upholsterers or even a leather or saddle suppliers. Hope that helps.
I think a cover would be the best bet for this chair, but there are lots of ideas here for you to look through:

A stretchy loose cover you can buy them on eBay.

a nice stretchy recliner slip cover should do the trick.
I had a similar situation with a vinyl recliner. You probably know that having one recovered costs as much as many new chairs.
I decoupaged a flat weave upholstery fabric to the parts that were wearing. Use Mod Podge for fabric and worked on separate sections. It sticks nicely to both the vinyl and the knit backing where the vinyl pealed off. Some large pieces of fabric that were placed over large sections of the knit drew up a little as they dried. Chair is not perfect but many times better. Plus, it is no longer pealing. Got the idea here: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/living-room/furniture/a-seat-you-can-t-beat-44260566

i would say the easiest way is to buy slipcovers ... changing upholestry will be super expensive
Looks just like ours from Ashley home store. Lasted 5 years. Our solution was a bit more drastic. We gave it away
