Douglas Hunt on Oct 14, 2012The Preen will have no effect on plants that are already growing, like your vinca. It inhibits germination, hence why it is called a pre-emergent, and it should reduce the number of rose of sharon seedlings you have, along with other annual weeds.

Joyce Hochsprung on Mar 12, 2015I realize this is an old post but just in case you are still checking Ann. The problem with your yellow daylily (hemerocallis) may be lack of sun. Also the foliage of many daylilies begins to go into senescence (decline or dying back) after bloom. You can simply pull out the browning foliage if it bothers you.I inherited vinca minor with the house when we moved in here. I've been here for 23 years now and it it has co-existed with my other plants with out a problem. I see you are in MI,maybe a growing zone warmer than I am in MN . In colder zones vinca is generally not a problem. Lack of sun may also be contributing to the mum's decline. In the northern part of the country both mums and daylilies prefer full sun though both will tolerate some shade. Vinca on the other hand grows best in part shade.
