Dollar Store Pumpkin Makeover
These beauties on my mantel started out life as bright orange Dollar Tree pumpkins! You can't even believe the difference! When I received a box of textured paints from DecoArt I knew they would make those inexpensive pumpkins look amazing!
The dollar store pumpkins began life looking like this.
The little green stems popped off easily and were attached using toothpicks.
The supplies I used were from DecoArt, I am a DecoArt and therefor try new products so I can tell you how great they are!
The paints I am using for this project are all textured paints.
Two are suede paints one in Olive and the other Suede.
I gave each pumpkin one coat and let it dry.
The pumpkins were easy to paint but it is important to let them dry between coats.
Two coats of the suede paint gave the pumpkins a matte finish that looks like suede.
The other paint I used was the metallic paint.
I pounced the paint onto the pumpkin using a paintbrush.
I used the copper color, it was thicker than the suede paint and gave the pumpkin a great texture!

While the paint was drying on my pumpkins I cut a few leaves from burlap and painted them with the suede paint.
I let the pumpkins dry then gave them a quick spray with the DecoArt Acrylic Matte Sealer.
I then searched my supplies for some fall foliage, moss, and something unique that could be used for stems.
I used distressed wooden pegs for the stems on the suede pumpkins.
The sueded pumpkins have such a subtle soft texture.
And a piece of driftwood for the stem on the metallic pumpkin.
These pumpkins are 100% better than the ones that originally came from the Dollar Tree and I'm adding them to my fall mantel filled with pumpkins I made this on Homeroad.
