Mermaid Vanity Desk

The owner's daughter had tried her hand at refinishing without any prep. She envisioned a desk for her toddler granddaughter with a chalkboard finish and white trim.
Most of the paint had been sanded off before I remembered to snap a before pic.
Top and front including the repaired drawers were sprayed with several light coats of Krylon chalkboard paint
I opted for the elegance of a tuxedo style to compliment the beautiful 1930's waterfall piece rather than a shabby look finish.
and it is for a child so I painted & papered the interiors of the drawers like a rainbow...
purchased the new drawer pulls online (you don't want to see the pic of the old ones which were large dresser drawer pulls)
The finishing touches include stenciled drawer numbers, I used metallic craft paint in pewter
...and a couple of vintage mermaids from The Graphics Fairy website as a nod to the original art deco vanity table
The refinished and reupholstered original bench is already seasoned for writing and I tucked a box of white chalk in the drawer.
