The Beauty of Scrap Wood!

If you work with wood then you probably have a scrap wood pile. It is unavoidable. I have a HUGE scrap pile, and I love it, but not only do I have my own, I like to collect free scrap wood that people are getting rid of as well. I can't help it!! I enjoy the challenge of taking scrap and reclaimed wood and making it into something beautiful...for free. Call me crazy.
When our old media console was on it's last leg and I was invited to participate in a sCrap wood challenge project I knew just what to do. Eeek! I think I am in love! :)
The inspiration for this project came from this wood. I loved it's chunkiness and knew they would be perfect for the legs. Here I am cutting them to size.
Attaching my newly sanded legs to some scrap 1x12 boards with pocket holes to make the sides.
After attaching the sides together with scrap 2x3's I started adding dividers with scrap plywood and a shelf with some 70 year old barnwood.
More scrap for the drawer fronts!

The pull out drawers are sooo awesome and perfect for TONS of DVD storage! The drawer slides were the only purchase I made for this project, since I had the handles already.

We pretty much love it! And so does our dog. :)

Have I convinced you of the beauty of scrap wood?! I even drew up some plans so you can make your own Media console! Check it out and all the details on my blog!
