Would you like to create a weathered rustic wood wall with new wood? Make this for your home without paying extra for distressed wood (which is expensive) or waiting for it to weather naturally. Here is your solution! With a few simple steps and some inexpensive materials, you can have the weathered rustic feel you are looking for!
This project was used in my farmhouse bathroom. The weathered wood wall was the perfect rustic touch! And it is an inexpensive project!
I used two different stains to obtain the rustic feel I was going for. The deep brown was my main color, and the gray was watered down to add that weathered touch. Make sure to check the blog post for details. We also used cheap paint.
We decided on doing a few layers of the two different colors of stain. You can experiment on a scrap piece of wood to see what method of layering you prefer.
We painted the designated wall behind the planks black. Why? This helps create a more natural feel once the planks are installed. There will be space between each board and it will look more appealing than white showing through the natural spaces between the planks.
