Parisian Flare Chalk Paint Hutch

I bought this ugly china cabinet or hutch over 6 yrs ago and I finally got up the nerve to paint over the "yellow" oak color...yuck! I had some nice chalk paint colors in mind but had no clue how I wanted to use them.
I wasnt going to post but hey maybe it will give someone the inspiration to start a project that has been stalled!
I had to remove all the glass windows, doors, hardware and back mirror panel. It left me with a skeleton which is much easier to work with when brought down to floor level.
i didn't use one stich of tape on this...all free hand with 3 different paint colors each with their own brush.
After I painted, I used an antiquing dark wax to age and blend it. I went a little darker than anticipated but it turned out great.
I then did the doors and laid them to side after cleaning glass & mirrors and replacing everything after it dried.
I then repeated paint technique on bottom half.
My dog rocket, an Irish terrier, loves to be by my side!
Then it's time to put it all together!
(Yup that's my hubby in reflection...he provided his muscle for this project and that's about it Other than this photo that is!)
Really anything would have been a step up from its old yellow sad and sorry finish!
Now it says va va voom when you walk in! cant help but to take a double take!
This was a really fun project! Glad I finally did it! If you're thinking about it...Do it! Don't wait like I did!
From that to...THIS!
I took this from our staircase...sorry it's a bit dark. I'd be happy to answer any questions but I am no expert! Just wanted to share!
Enjoyed the project?
Suggested materials:
- Chalk paint from Waverly-Plaid in Plaster, Agave, and Americana Red. 3 paint brushes & bowls or plates you can cover with plastic bags to keep from drying. Drop cloth, dark antique wax with brush, and sand paper block or fine grit. (I got paint from Wal-mart, wax from Home Depot.)
