I love the look of old weathered wood, but it isn't always easy to come by. I'll show you how to create that look on unfinished new wood in less than 1 hour!
Time: 30 Minutes Cost: $20.00 Difficulty: Easy
This is a plain, unfinished wood box that will be totally transformed with a weathered wood finish.
I wanted to test out the weathered wood finish before I tried it on something I paid for, so I tested it on scrap wood.
My sample pieces of scrap wood are red oak, white oak, and white pine.
You can use the weathered wood treatment on any kind of raw wood.
If it's previously been painted or stained, you'll need to sand off the finish.
Brush on the weathered wood treatment, and watch the magic begin!
You can start to see the change immediately, but for best results wait 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Brush on the weathered wood treatment with a cheap chip brush. The consistency is like water, so expect dripping. and use it on a protected surface.
Here's how it looks after the weathered wood treatment. It has a beautiful aged gray look, like old fence pickets or barn wood, and it only took 30 minutes!
I've tried other treatments like steel wool soaked in vinegar, and never got good results, but this treatment works like a charm!
Now my plain wood box has a lovely farmhouse style!.
I'm using my box to hold decorative milk bottle flower vases, but it would look great on a coffee table to hold remote controls, in a bathroom to hold combs & brushes, or planted with flowers for a table centerpiece.
Unfinished wood products are very inexpensive in craft stores and on Amazon, and you'll love transforming all of them with this beautiful aged wood finish!
