How to Make Cute Deco Mesh Topiaries For the Holidays
Need something new for your holiday decorating? Grab a tomato cage and some deco mesh for this adorable DIY holiday topiary idea!
Here's how to make a Christmassy deco mesh topiary for your front porch.
Deco mesh is such versatile stuff and it's so easy to wrap and decorate with. I had this idea for a Christmas tree that could also be turned into a fun winter tree.
Tools and materials:
- Black planter for the base
- Tomato cage
- Wire cutters
- Tape
- Pipe cleaners
- LED lights
- Deco mesh
- Ornaments
- Ornament hooks
- Bow (learn how to make the perfect Christmas bow here)

1. Cut the tomato cage
Grab a plastic pot and a tomato cage. Cut down the tomato cage to size.
2. Tape the tomato cage to the planter
Next, you need something to weigh down the planter. I used a large rock. Then, attach the tomato cage to the planter - I just used Scotch tape for this. It won't show through once we're done.
3. Tie the top of the tomato cage
To tie the points of the tomato cage together, I used half a pipe cleaner.
4. Add LED lights
After that, add some LED lights. You'll want to make sure they're LED lights to avoid a fire hazard.
5. Wrap green deco mesh around the tomato cage
Next, grab some green deco mesh. Wrap it around your tomato cage and attach it with pipe cleaners.
6. Decorate
Grab some ornament hooks and add them to the ornaments, then twist them onto the deco mesh.
DIY Christmas deco mesh topiaries
These little trees are the perfect way to brighten up your front porch or a dark corner of your home that needs a little holiday cheer!
After Christmas, you can remove the green deco mesh and switch it out with white mesh for winter decorations!

Clever idea! I like the white the best (won't have to switch out for winter, lol).
